Superdoula!
My husband and I thought we would have enough support from each other during labor. We enjoyed our hypnobirthing sessions a lot, made arrangements with a hospital (Sooncheonhyang) and a doctor (Dr.Chung) of our liking. We were fully prepared!
Just a couple of weeks before D-day a befriended couple and our doctor strongly recommended contacting Lisa. We met and afterwards felt that this was the missing piece in our birth plan.
When Lisa came to our home after labor had set in, we both felt more at ease and confident. Her presence was comforting; she sensed exactly what I needed and when, how to speak to me and when my husband needed a break. Through her positive outlook and humor we had an intimate and wonderful labor.
Our labor ended up in a c-sec which we hadn’t prepared for but Lisa was able to reassure us, and she was right there when our son Niko was born. In the days after, she stopped by at the hospital and at home to give breastfeeding and other tips.
Communication with the mother, father, doctor and hospital staff really affects your experience. Lisa has a gift of knowing what to say from moment to moment but also when to step back and let mother and father have their time together.

I personally recommend hiring a Doula if you plan on having a natural and med-free birth. We had the experience we were hoping for because of Lisa. She kept us strong when we were tired and struggling to make good decisions. Thanks so much Lisa!!!

Lisa really made the entire experience relaxing and positive for me. Her being able to help my wife through the pain and stress of the labor really made me feel more comfortable. Lisa got me involved to help my wife as well – but I’m confident that if she wasn’t there it would have been much more difficult for us and we probably would have gotten into an argument. I think the two bullet points would be helping Bridget manage the pain and just explaining to us what was coming next in the process.
When the baby wasn’t getting much to eat and Bridget was frustrated with that whole process (its not as easy as it sounds / looks.) And when the baby was spending a lot of time screaming and we couldn’t figure out what was wrong or how to calm him down. Here again, Lisa Fincaryk saved the day. She spent several hours with us. She showed Bridget some techniques to help with feeding the baby. She showed us some ways to help calm the baby and she helped us plan a schedule. She also spent time telling us we weren’t crazy or incompetent – which was more helpful than I realized at the time.
